Mary Cote, MD

Dr. Côté graduated cum laude from La Sierra University in Riverside, CA. Her Doctor of Medicine Degree and a Surgical Internship were completed at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. She then served four years as a General Medical Officer on active duty as a Captain in the US Army in Germany. Her Ophthalmology Residency was at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles followed by an Ophthalmic Pathology Fellowship at Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California.

Dr. Côté served as a USC Attending Physician while Chief of the VA Los Angeles Outpatient Clinic. Upon relocation to Orange County, she joined the faculty at University of Californa, Irvine where she is now an Associate Clinical Professor. As Assistant Chief of Ophthalmology at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System she continues to teach medical students and residents on rotation through the VA from UCI. In addition to comprehensive evaluations for Compensation and Pension, she is the designated ophthalmologist for the Visual Impaired Services Team and the Ophthalmic Pathologist for VA Long Beach. However, in addition to service to our Veterans and as a teacher for UCI, Dr. Côté considers it a privilege to have the opportunity to have her own private patients in Huntington Beach, CA.

She has published numerous articles and two book chapters. Dr. Côté also serves the community at large by providing free medical care in the Veterans Operation Stand Down, with the Illumination Foundation of Orange County for the homeless, Helps International in Guatemala, LIGA, Flying Doctors of Mercy, in Mexico and as a Team Leader for Foundation Fighting Blindness to raise awareness and funding for people with retinal degenerative diseases. She serves on the board of the White Cane Society and was a Girl Scout Leader for six years. She is a Competent Toastmaster and recognized by Who's Who and as one of America's Top Ophthalmologists. Currently she is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Association of Ophthalmic Pathologists and President of the Orange County Society of Ophthalmology and Immediate Past President of LeTip of Costa Mesa. She is a highly skilled, experienced and compassionate doctor fluent in English, Spanish and German. You can be comfortable joining her family of patients and trusting her to meet your eye care needs.
